Zain Inspection is a DGFT-approved PSIA (Pre-Shipment Inspection Agency) for the import of metal scrap and waste paper scrap into India.
What is a PSIC?
A Pre-Shipment Inspection Certificate (PSIC) is a mandatory document for consignments of metal scrap and certain recyclable materials being shipped to India. It confirms that the cargo has been inspected at the port of loading and meets the requirements set by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India.

Scope of Inspection
- Verification of cargo type, grade and description against documents.
- Visual inspection for prohibited, hazardous or explosive materials.
- Radiation screening (as applicable) and safety checks.
- Random sampling and photo/video documentation of the cargo and loading.
- Supervision of stuffing, container sealing and seal number recording.
- Quantity checks (piece count/weight as applicable) and packaging verification.
- Issuance of DGFT-compliant PSIC and upload on the DGFT portal.
How the PSIC Process Works
- Request & Booking: Share shipment details (invoice, packing list, yard/port, tentative dates).
- Scheduling: Inspector assignment and inspection appointment with yard/port.
- On-site Inspection: Cargo verification, safety checks, sampling and media capture.
- Loading Supervision: Monitoring of stuffing, seal application and recording.
- Report & Evidence: Preparation of PSIC with photo/video evidence.
- DGFT Portal: Upload as per current DGFT guidelines.
- Delivery: PSIC shared with exporter/importer; originals/copies as required.
